Sandspur is located in the Intercoastal Waterway. It takes 30-40 minutes to paddle to the island then 30-40 minutes to return to our launch site. Most guests like to rent our water sport equipment for 2 hours to allow time for the commute and the adventure.

Yes, we have a newly launched food trailer “OL'EATA Beach Bistro” that offers a variety of food options.

Oleta River Outdoor Center is located 1 mile South of the Ranger Station. It is the only 2-story building in the park. You will notice the kayak launch site across from our building. Continue to drive on that same road until you reach Parking Lot #1 where you can park your vehicle while you are enjoying the rental.

Our retail store offers a variety of items, including UV protective clothing, snacks, games, and skin protection products. Whether you're looking for gear to stay safe from the sun, a quick bite, fun activities, or products to protect your skin, we've got you covered.

We recommend making a reservation in advance especially for tours. We only take reservations on the weekends up to 11:00 am due possible park gate closures later in the day due to parking limitations. You can make reservations through our website or by contacting us directly. Walk-ins are always welcome.

Most of our activities are suitable for all ages and skill levels. For kayaking and paddleboarding, children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. We offer beginner-friendly options and provide safety instructions before you start. If you have any concerns about specific activities, please contact us for more information.

We have beach cruisers and mountain bikes available to rent. The beach cruiser is made for leisurely strolls on the paved roads throughout the park. The mountain bikes come in hardtail or full suspension and can be taken into the mountain bike trail system within the park.

At Oleta River Outdoor Center, you can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, including kayak and canoe rentals, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), mountain biking, and guided tours. Whether you're looking for a relaxing day on the water or an adventurous trail ride, we have something for everyone.

Our operating hours vary depending on the season and daylight-saving time. We recommend checking our website or giving us a call for the most up-to-date information on our current hours of operation.

Nice place, easy to arrive and very friendly staff, I got to meet Tony, the manager of the kayaking place and was very nice getting to know him and to have the kayaking experience, unfortunately the weather forces us to go back after about an hour but, it was worth and best part they charge when you’re back so you don’t have to pre pay for time that maybe you’re not going to be there or either way if you got to extend the experience you don’t have to do 2 times the same process. Hope to be back next time in Miami.

What an amazing time we had. From the staff at the desks to the kayaking it was awesome. We got to see 3 manatee on our way to Raccoon Island which was an added bonus. Even we got to the island we didn’t see any raccoons but it was noisy. We walked into the island a little bit and we had 5 come up to us and we fed them. One actually stole my bag of treats and took out his own treat and left the bag. Later on we were in the water and turned around and one of the little guys from earlier was going through our kayak looking for more food lol. It is really an awesome time. Great for kids and family.

My husband and I rented single kayaks for enjoying a paddle in the park and to sand spur island to meet the friendly raccoons. It did not disappoint. The paddle is a definite workout especially across the bay but worth every drop of sweat to meet the friendly masked bandits. They loved the red grapes and bananas (they seemed the favorites). The paddle back to the launch wasn’t near as bad. The staff was very friendly and super helpful with all my questions, not to mention amazing customer service. 10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting a fun paddle in the Miami area.

Oleta River Outdoor Center and State Park is a refreshing little piece of quiet nature nestled in the middle of concrete chaos. The staff are friendly, kind and accommodating. Our entire kayakiing experience from start to finish was enjoyable. Honestly, the patient staff members were awesome!

A friend and I did the two hour long kayaking tour and it was a great activity to spend a beautiful morning on the water. Our tour guide was very informative and fun and showed her love and passion for nature. I will definitely come back next time I'm in town to try paddle boarding!
